Refund policy
Last updated: 26 August 2026
Nothing is sold through this website's checkout. Work is quoted in writing and invoiced directly, so this policy covers deposits, cancellations and refunds on that work.
Work done at no charge
If I have offered it, it is free. Nothing is charged for it and there is nothing to refund. You keep it either way.
Before I start
Cancel before I start and you owe nothing. If you have paid a deposit, you get all of it back, and I will send it back the same week rather than making you ask twice.
After I start
Cancel partway through and you pay for the work done to that point, pro rated against the quoted price. Anything you have paid above that comes back to you. You get everything produced up to the point of cancelling, and it is yours to use.
After delivery
Once work is delivered, it is done and it cannot be returned, so delivered work is not refundable as a matter of course.
That is not the end of it though. If what you received is not what was agreed in the quote, tell me and I will fix it at no charge. If I cannot fix it to match what was agreed, you get your money back for that piece. Email hello@thebusinesssynthesizer.com with the invoice number and what is wrong.
Worth saying plainly: not liking a creative decision is different from not getting what you paid for. The first one is what the included round of changes is for. The second one gets a refund.
If you are buying as an individual
If you commissioned something for personal or household reasons rather than for a business, you have rights under Alberta's Consumer Protection Act and under the consumer law of the province you live in. Nothing here removes them.
In particular, the line above about delivered work not being refundable does not override any right you have to a remedy where the work is not what we agreed or is not of reasonably acceptable quality. If that is the situation, tell me and we will sort it out.
If I cancel
If I have to pull out of a job for any reason, you pay nothing, everything you have paid is refunded in full, and you keep whatever I had produced by then.
Late work
If I miss an agreed date and you no longer want the work because of it, you can cancel and get a full refund of anything paid for that piece.
How refunds are paid
Refunds go back the way the payment came, in the currency it was invoiced in, within ten business days of us agreeing the amount. Bank or currency conversion fees charged by your own bank are outside my control.
Delivery
Work is delivered digitally, so in the normal course there is nothing to send back. If a job ever included something physical, we would agree how that is handled at the time.
Work done at no charge comes back as soon as I can turn it around. Quoted work has its turnaround written into the quote, running from the point I have what I need to start.
