Privacy policy

Last updated September 30, 2026

The Business Synthesizer is a sole proprietorship based in Calgary, Alberta. This policy explains what information I collect through this website, why, and what you can do about it. It's written to follow Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act and Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act.

What I collect

I don't use advertising or tracking cookies. The site stores one small setting in your browser for the current visit so the opening animation only plays once.

Why I collect it

I don't sell your information or use it for anything else without asking you first. I won't add you to a mailing list unless you ask to be added.

AI tools and service providers

To research solutions, I use third-party AI tools. The description of your problem may be entered into these tools. I leave out names and contact details wherever I can, and I read and check everything they produce myself.

My website host, form handling and AI tools are service providers located in the United States. They process information on my behalf, only for the purposes above. Because they're outside Canada, your information may be accessible to courts, law enforcement and national security authorities there. You can ask me which providers I use and about my practices for them using the contact options below.

How long I keep it

I keep proposal requests only as long as they're useful, and generally no longer than 24 months, unless you become a client. Client records are kept for as long as needed to deliver the work and meet tax and legal requirements.

Your choices

I'll respond as soon as I can, within the time limits set by privacy law. If you're not satisfied with my answer, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Security

Your information is stored with reputable providers that use encryption, and access is limited to me. If a breach ever created a real risk of significant harm, I'd notify you and the Alberta privacy commissioner as the law requires.
